New Recording Slated
for Late Fall Release!
We are pleased to announce that Rick is in the final
stages of an exciting new recording entitled "The
Undertow... and other mysteries of the sea".
Slated for release Late Fall 2007, this is a collection
of 14 new original songs written
by Rick and a few of his songwriting buddies...
. that are all based on themes surrounding the ocean.
In Rick's own words...
"When reflecting on the various song topics
I've written about over the course of the last 20
years or so, it became obvious to me that there are
many references to the sea. I guess that is not all
surprising as our family lived within 20 miles of
the Rye coastline.
"One of our ancestors, Robert Lang, can be traced
back to the Isles Of Shoals where he stayed before
settling at Sagamore Creek. Our dad spent long periods
of time at sea while he was in the navy... as did
our brother George. Our mom frequented the ocean as
a place of solace and refuge. As children my sister,
brothers and I spent many summer days on the Rye beaches
swimming, building sand castles, flying kites, looking
for seashells and starfish. Also, our great aunt &
uncle, Paul & Girtrude Hudon, owned and operated a
wonderful seafood restaurant at Hampton Beach (with
an incredible panoramic view of the ocean) where we
all worked at one time or another.
"I just thought it might be interesting to record
a theme album where each song carries some reference
to the ocean."
Online Songwriter Chat
Session
On the 3rd Thursday of each month, I will be hosting
an Online Songwriter Chat Session on Candi Sawyer's
website www.bluegrassguide.com.
This will be our 3rd season, and we've had very good
response so far.
The Chat sessions begin at 8:00 PM EST, and we welcome
anyone interested in songwriting... at any level. It
is a great opportunity for songwriters to interact
and learn from each other.
Each month we will have a "special guest" songwriter,
and October featured Eric & Leigh Gibson. It was one
of the most exciting and well-attended chat sessions
ever! Our good friend and exceptional songwriter Chris
Stuart will be our November guest, and we're in the
process of lining up guest songwriters for each month
throughout the winter and early spring.
For updates, please be sure to log on to www.bluegrassguide.com.
We sure hope you will be able to join us for one or
more of the songwriter chat sessions this season ....
it is a lot of fun!

New Song Written For The
United Way
This winter Rick was busy recording a jingle he had
written last year for the United
Way of the Greater Seacoast entitled "It's
All About People". The song was created
to pay tribute to the very important work United Way
does in our local communities. The United Way staff
was quite impressed with Rick's tune, so much so,
that they are using it for a new promotional campaign,
which will air on TV and radio during the month of
April.
Produced by Mark Shilansky, and engineered by Huck
Bennert, the actual recording took place at a studio
in Acton Mass and included several prominent Boston
area jazz musicians. The song was sung by United Way
of the Greater Seacoast staff member, Lauren Wool
- a gifted musician and singer with an absolutely
beautiful voice. Dave Mackey of Insight Media spent
two days filming United Way volunteers working in
the community to add the visual part of the spot.
The completed PSA will air on WMUR TV, Comcast cable
and NH public TV throughout the month of April. A
radio version, including an audio message, will air
on several of the top area radio stations to complement
the TV campaign.

All About People," CLICK
